stga

Dear STGA Members,

Allow me to take few minute of your time to share with you several important message and also take your attention toward the improved STGA website.

1. Please find the newly approved STGA Constitution by ROS http://stga.com.my/wp-content/uploads/docs/STGA_Constitution_2013.pdf. We were instructed by ROS to use the new constitution with immediate affect.

2. Due to work commitment by some of our EXCO members, they decided to vacant their seat and hope for new members to volunteer in the administration of the association as an EXCO Members. We wish to invite you to be the driving force to champion the interest of the association and STGA members.

3. The World Federation Tourist Guides Association, University Malaysia Sabah and Sabah Tourist Guides Association will be organizing the 1st WFTGA Certification Program ie Hands on Training and Train the Trainer Course from the 16th – 28th June 2013. If you’re interested to participate or wish to find out more, Please give you name and contact number to STGA Secretariat.

4. Since the new EXCO took office toward mid last year, we have been busy not only with what we aim to achieve within the administrative term (http://stga.com.my/2012/06/29/progress-report/) but also with managing our association/members professional reputation and dignity.

While some of our members opt to sell their soul and partnered with those who is in favor to have foreign untrained guide to be the local guide in Sabah, STGA on the other hand went to the World Meet of Professional Tourist Guides in Macau and get unanimous vote against the very principal that does not protect the interest of the Local Trained License Tourist Guides. Hence the creation of Macau Declaration.

STGA believes that as a NGO and a professional body, our role is to protect the interest and welfare of our members as well as to ensure that our members live up to the standard of being a professional, through continuous education and good conduct. STGA as a professional body will remain committed not to be politically associated hence are not disturbed by any non principled individual or association the goes around with lies and no clear direction.

5. While most of our goals that we have was achieve last year, some may not be perfect or is at work on progress yet we wish to assure that our EXCO remain committed in implementing what we have aimed to achieve.

This year until the end of our office early next year, our struggle will be focus on pushing for the relevant tourism stakeholder for “7 Points Policy Reform” so to ensure a much enabling and harmonious policy for us all in the industry, particularly for the the Tourist Guiding Industry in Sabah.

I wish to thank you for the continuous support and confident toward our EXCO Members and to remind that United We Stand, Divided We Fall and urged you to remain steadfast in this continuous journey toward doing the very best we can for the tourism industry in Sabah.

Yours Sincerely,

Daniel Doughty, STGA Chairman
